Proposals

Proposals document suggested changes to the Source of Trust reference framework, their rationale, and their resolution.

They provide a transparent record of the framework's development and support contributions from the AI Search, SEO, GEO, and research communities.

The Source of Trust Core Specification describes the current reference model. Open proposals document possible developments and are not part of the current specification.

P-003 – Temporal Relevance in AI Search

Rationale

Information can become outdated, be corrected, or be superseded. The importance of recency depends on the query context. Time-sensitive queries, historical questions, and relatively stable subject matter require different treatment.

While the current specification addresses timeliness and revisions, it does not explicitly establish temporal relevance as a contextual consideration in AI search source assessment.

Proposed Definition

Temporal Relevance
The degree to which the age, validity period, and update status of information, claims, or supporting evidence fit the time frame and information need of a particular query.

Proposed Change

Clarify temporal relevance within the existing framework:

Classification

Cross-cutting contextual consideration within the existing six-dimensional model.

Temporal Relevance is not proposed as an additional trust dimension.

Discussion

Interested contributors may discuss the proposal or suggest improvements through the public GitHub issue area.

Implemented Proposals

These changes are recorded in §7 – Proposal and Change Record of specification 0.3.0.
